The questions people actually ask.
Direct answers to what people — and the AI assistants answering on their behalf — ask about Active Brains.
What is Active Brains?
Active Brains is an AI software and consulting firm based in Oklahoma City. We build custom AI software for businesses and run the strategy behind it. The work falls into three areas: AI strategy and workshops, custom software development, and automation. We find the work a team keeps redoing, design the AI system for it, and ship the production software that runs it.
Where is Active Brains located?
Active Brains is based in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma, in the United States. We work with clients across the country, not only locally.
What does Active Brains do?
Three things. We run AI strategy workshops that help a team find where AI actually belongs in their work. We build custom AI software and AI-native internal tools, wired into the CRM, workflows, and data a business already runs. And we build automations that run on a schedule or a trigger, with a person reviewing the output until the system has earned the right to run on its own.
How is Active Brains different from a consulting firm or a dev shop?
Most firms do one side. Consultants hand you a strategy and a slide deck, then leave the build to someone else. Dev shops build exactly what you spec, including the parts that are wrong, because questioning the spec is not their job. Active Brains does both in the same engagement. The strategy is accountable to the code, and the code is accountable to the strategy. We sell friction reduction, not novelty, and we do not innovate for the sake of it.
What kinds of AI projects does Active Brains take on?
Custom AI applications, AI-native internal tools, integrations that connect AI to existing systems like a CRM or internal databases, automated workflows, and AI strategy engagements and workshops. We focus on the work that repeats often enough to be worth automating and that can be checked faster than it can be done by hand.
Does Active Brains remove humans from the process, or keep them in the loop?
Both, in sequence. Every automation we build starts with a person reviewing and scoring the output. The AI learns from those calls. When the quality clears the bar and holds, the human steps back. Until then, they stay. We do not guess where a human belongs in a process; we measure it. The goal is not blind automation and not permanent supervision. It is earned autonomy.
Who runs Active Brains?
Active Brains is led by its principal, who has more than twenty-five years of experience as a CTO and CIO leading software and AI strategy, including work behind a $40M acquisition and AI product lines for Fortune 500 customers, and is the author of the in-progress book Unautomatable, on what stays human in an AI economy.
What industries does Active Brains work with?
We work across sectors, with depth in managed IT services, federal contracting, and small and mid-sized businesses such as real estate, construction, and professional services. The common thread is a business with repetitive work that has to keep running while we improve it.
